Situated on the way to Chamundi hills, the Mysore Sand Sculpture Museum is a creation of a young artist M N Gowri and her sister Neelu. There are sculptures of the Indian gods and goddesses, Disney world, marine life, wild life, various ancient civilisations, zodiac signs etc. The sculptures were made in 4-5 months using just sand and water. It is a small museum which can be seen within half an hour and is worth a stop. The museum is open from 9 to 6:30 PM and entrance fees is Rs. 40/per person.
Established in 1979 by the Indian Railways, this museum is a nice treat for children and adult alike to learn the history of the various rail engines used in 19th and 20th century in India especially in and around the state of Mysore. One can get into these locomotive models to experience and admire their engineering. The Maharani saloon shows how the elite of those times used to travel, while a toy train ride takes one around the museum. In this small museum, in half and hour or so one can learn centuries of railways growth. Tickets cost Rs. 20 for adults and Rs. 10 for children. Timings are 9 to 5 PM.
